What's going on in the dye studio?
This week has been crazy busy in the Fiber Optic studio! First, we have 3 more faux-BATIK colors on Foot Notes UNSPUN! pencil rovings that we are adding to the Sapphire colorway of last week.
This are very intense and the colors are similar to the popular BATIK colorways on Foot Notes yarn. There is also another faux-BATIK colorway on BFL, named 'Black Light' and as the name suggests it is deepest black broken with aubergine and highlighted with ultraviolet – picture black lighting and you’ll have the colors perfectly!
Secondly, we are busy expanding the studio capabilities!!! We are working with an industrial electrician to re-wire the studio so we'll (in theory) be able to dye at least 120 items/day. Here at Fiber Optic we are all having a lot of fun imagining the possibilities!!! To help make the theory a reality, we are also actively searching for a dyer's assistant. Finally, we are meeting with a carpenter to build drying racks and frame in a drying room for us. While we will always be a small indie company, comprised of a few fanatical fiberholics, we are also passionate about delivering the highest quality and most exciting yarns and fibers that we can dream up! We hope that our expanded environment will be reflected in the new and exciting products we will be able to bring to fiber artists!

FootNotes UNSPUN Pencil Roving in Knittyspin Fiber Fiesta!
FootNotes UNSPUN Pencil Roving was featured in Knittyspin's Fiber Fiesta, Winter 2009. We're told our pencil roving was in high demand with the test spinners. They absolutely loved it.

FiberOptic Featured at I Live On A Farm
FiberOptic Foot Notes yarn was featured on the I Live On A Farm blog and used in a gorgeous Christmas stocking in violets and greens. We love how this little stocking turned out. Great job firefly! The Little Violet Who Christmas Stocking pattern is available in I Live On A Farm's etsy store. :)
